ASSP Quad Cities Chapter Virtual Meeting – March 13

  •  March 13, 2026
     12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Topic: Opioid Overdose Prevention and Naloxone Administration

Description: Drug overdose deaths in the U.S. have exceeded 1.25 million since the opioid epidemic began more than two decades ago. Naloxone (Narcan®) is a lifesaving medication that can reverse an opioid overdose and prevent death. This training equips participants to recognize the signs of a possible opioid overdose and confidently administer naloxone nasal spray to save lives.

Speaker: Heidi Wood is a pharmacist with the University of Iowa Addiction and Recovery Collaborative (UI ARC). She believes naloxone belongs in every first aid kit and travels across Iowa educating communities about its lifesaving impact while working to expand access statewide. In addition to her overdose prevention work, Heidi serves on a mobile clinic team providing treatment for substance use disorders and infections to people in Iowa.
